Holy Trinity Church of Cambridge, MA, will host a book presentation by Adrienne Alexanian, editor of her father’s memoir, Forced into Genocide. The event will be held on Sunday, Mar. 18, at 12:30 p.m., at the church’s Charles and Nevart Talanian Cultural Hall (145 Brattle St., Cambridge). The Eastern Diocese’s Krikor & Clara Zohrab Information Center and St. Nersess Seminary will sponsor a day-long conference on His Holiness Karekin Hovsepian, late Catholicos of Cilicia and Primate of the Diocese. The conference, titled “Soldier of the Light: The Aspirations of Catholicos Karekin Hovsepian” and marking the 150th anniversary of Hovsepian’s birth, will take place on Saturday, Mar. 24, from 10:30 a.m. (10 a.m. check-in) to 4 p.m., with midday lunch served, on the campus of St. Nersess Seminary (486 Bedford Rd., Armonk, NY). Speakers include Dr. Abraham Terian, Dr. Roberta Ervine, Dr. Christine Maranci, Fr. Mampre Kouzouian, Fr. Karekin Kasparian, and Mr. Nubar Kupelian. Fr. Daniel Findikyan will moderate. Diocesan Primate Archbishop Khajag Barsamian will preside. The event—which is open to the public—is generously underwritten by Mr. and Mrs. Berge and Vera Setrakian. St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York City will mark the 50th anniversary of its consecration on Saturday and Sunday, 5-6, at the cathedral complex (630 Second Ave., New York). His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will preside over the weekend of activities. Saturday, May 5 will begin with the grand opening of an exhibit of photos and artifacts from 50 years of life at St. Vartan Cathedral. It will proceed to a “Concert of Sacred Music” in the sanctuary, featuring such luminaries as Isabel Bayrakdarian, Hovhannes Mirzoyan, the Nikolai Kachanov Singers, Şahan Arzruni, Haig Mardirosian and Sato Moughalian. On Sunday, May 6, His Holiness Karekin II will celebrate a Pontifical Divine Liturgy, followed by a requiem service for the cathedral’s departed founders and leaders. Click here to view a flyer.
