New York’s Episcopal Cathedral of Saint John the Divine will host a Solemn Prayer and Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, on Sunday, Apr. 28, at 10:30 a.m., in the cathedral (1047 Amsterdam Ave., b/n W. 110th and W. 113th Sts., New York City). St. John the Divine Cathedral Dean Fr. Patrick Malloy will be celebrant at the Holy Eucharist. Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, will be guest homilist. With the participation of The Gomidas Choir of the Diocese: Kris Kalfayan, director; Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian, organist. During this solemn liturgical service, the Intercessory Prayer for the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide will be offered before the Armenian Khatchkar in the St. Saint John the Divine Cathedral sanctuary. NOTE: This khatchkar was originally unveiled at a Memorial Concert for the Armenian Genocide on April 25, 1987, it is the work of artist Zadik Zadikian, reproduced from an historic original “cross stone” in Armenia.

Sts. Vartanantz Church of Chelmsford, MA, will host its 55th season of Lenten programs—the “Fr. Ghevont Samoorian Lenten Program of Spiritual Renewal”—as in-person lectures on Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. through Lent (Mar. 15, 22) at the church (180 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford). The Armenian Genocide Commemoration Committee of Connecticut will host a commemoration of the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on Saturday, Apr. 27, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the historic Connecticut House Chamber of the State Capitol (210 Capitol Ave., Hartford). Clergy from the state’s Armenian churches will offer the “Prayer for the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.” Keynote speaker is Dr. Melanie O’Brien: president of the International Association of Genocide Scholars, associate professor of international law at U. of Western Australia, Perth, visiting at the U. of Minnesota. The Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education at NJ’s St. Elizabeth College will hold its annual Armenian Genocide commemoration on Wednesday, May 1, in Dolan Auditorium at the college’s Annunciation Center (2 Convent Rd., Morristown, NJ).
