St. Leon Church of Fair Lawn, NJ, will host a book presentation by Dr. Susan Pattie, author of The Armenian Legionnaires: Sacrifice and Betrayal in World War I. The event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7:45 p.m., in Charles & Grace Pinajian Youth Ctr. (12-61 Saddle River Rd., Fair Lawn). Dr. Pattie will describe the motivations of the Armenian Legionnaires and their betrayal as France and Britain shifted priorities, leaving the Armenian homeland to the emerging Republic of Turkey. Book Presentation: “The Sun Does Shine,” by Anthony Ray Hinton
Holy Trinity Church of Cambridge, MA, will present its “Dr. Michael and Joyce Kolligian Distinguished Speaker Series” on Thursday, Apr. 25, at 7 p.m., in the church’s Charles and Nevart Talanian Cultural Hall (145 Brattle St., Cambridge). This year’s speaker is Anthony Ray Hinton, author of The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row.
