The parish council and ACYOA of St. Sarkis Church in Carrollton, TX, will ring in 2023 with a New Year’s Eve Celebration, beginning on Saturday, Dec. 31, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., in the beautiful Hall of Lights at the church campus (4421 Charles St., Carrollton, TX). A full menu buffet with a range of meat, poultry, fish, and vegetarian options catered by Esma Sargsyan will be served with desserts provided by Natalie Bakery. Longtime pastor Fr. Garabed Kochakian will lead an online lecture on “Miraculous Images in the Armenian Church,” on Monday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. EST, over the Zoom video platform. Der Garabed will discuss Armenian Christian iconography and his own role as an icon painter; a Q&A will follow. The lecture is presented by the Knight of Vartan Nareg-Shavarshan Lodge. The ACYOA’s yearly Mission Trip will run from Thursday, Feb. 16 through Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023. The weekend-long, faith-based service trip for young adults will bring outreach to the Eastern Diocese’s mission parish in Atlanta. Additionally, participants will work with Habitat for Humanity on a home being built in nearby Roswell, GA. The Mission Trip is open to all young adults 18 and older, and will be limited to 18 participants (applicants should be prepared to do physical labor at a Habitat for Humanity site). Online registration is now open on the ACYOA website.
