Sacred Music Festival Banner

The Eastern Diocese’s “Sacred Music Day”a day-long celebration of Armenian Church musicwill run Saturday, November 16, at the St. James of Nisibis Church in Evanston, IL. As conceived by the Diocese’s Sacred Music Council, the event will feature instructional workshops, educational seminars, and a lecture-recital. Presenters and instructors include Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian, Dn. Rubik Mailian, and Dn. Hovhannes Khosdeghian; Fr. Andreas Garabedian and Fr. Guregh Hambardzumyan will perform during the lecture-recital. “Sacred Music Day” is open to choral and instrumental musicians—indeed to all who love Armenian liturgical music, and wish to elevate their understanding and improve their performance. The Shushi Dance Ensemble of St. Vartan Cathedral of New York will present a new performance, “Resilience & Hope,” commemorating the 110th anniv. of the Armenian Genocide, on Sunday, Apr. 6, at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) (1 Center St., Newark, NJ). Tenafly

St. Thomas Church of Tenafly, NJ, will host its “Fall Food Festival” on Sunday, Oct. 27, 12 noon-6 p.m., in the church halls (174 Essex Dr., corner Rt. 9W & E. Clinton Ave., Tenafly). Featuring traditional Armenian cuisine, for eating in or taking out. Entertainment includes a clown magician (at 1:30 p.m.), balloon twisting, raffles, and music. St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Church of Wynnewood, PA, will host this year’s ACYOA Jrs. Fall Sports Weekend, from Friday to Monday, Oct. 11-14. All ACYOA Jrs. members are welcome; participants must be registered via a parish to attend. The Wynnewood faithful look forward to welcoming ACYOA Jrs. from throughout the Eastern Diocese for a weekend of faith, sports competition, and fellowship. Community members are welcome to watch daytime sports competitions and attend badarak on Sunday morning.
