New Jersey’s PBS channel, WNJB, will air the engrossing documentary on the Armenian Genocide and its aftermath, titled The Hidden Map.

Filmmaker Ani Hovannisian takes viewers on a journey of heartbreak, discovery, and hope, as she uncovers the forbidden Armenian past beneath the surface of modern-day Turkey. Her chance meeting with a Scottish explorer leads them deep into the ancestral Armenian homeland, where buried secrets and stories of resilience reveal a “hidden map” of suffering and survival. Watch the trailer here.

The NJ PBS air dates are Thursday, August 18 at 9 p.m., Saturday, August 20 at 9 a.m., and Sunday, August 21 at 6:30 p.m. Details can be found on the official website, TheHiddenMap.com.

St. Gregory The Enlightener Armenian Church

St. Gregory the Enlightener Church in White Plains, NY, will hold its annual picnic and “Family Fair” on Sunday, Sep. 25, from noon until 6 p.m., rain or shine, at the church (1131 North St., White Plains; Exit 25 on Hutchinson R. The Eastern Diocese will present a special in-person concert, “Khosdoum” (“Promise”) featuring actor, scriptwriter, parodist, and singer Vardan Petrosyan, on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m., at the Diocesan Center in New York (630 Second Ave., at 35th St., NYC).
