From November 18 to 20, 60 young adults from some 20 parishes across the Eastern Diocese gathered at Camp Washington in Lakeside, CT, for the annual ACYOA Seniors Leadership Conference. This year, 60 percent of the participants were first-time attendees of the Leadership Conference.
St. James Church Marks 60 Years
On Sunday, November 27, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), visited St. James Church of Richmond, VA, as the community celebrated the parish’s 60th anniversary.
St. Mary Church Marks 90th Anniversary
On Saturday, November 19, St. Mary Church of Livingston, NJ, celebrated its 90th anniversary with a celebratory dinner at the church’s Haroutune and Siranoush Toufayan Hall with over 200 parishioners and guests in attendance. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), presided over the occasion.
Dawn of a New Era at St. Nersess Seminary
Saturday, November 12 marked the long-awaited opening of the new campus of St. Nersess Seminary in Armonk, NY. His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, officiated over the ceremonies.
He was assisted by Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese and President of the seminary, and Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese.
Supreme Spiritual Council Meets in New York
Under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, more than a dozen Armenian bishops and lay leaders from around the world gathered this week for a meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council: the ecclesiastical governing body of the Armenian Church.
In an unprecedented turn, the meeting convened in New York city, at the headquarters of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America: the first time the body has met away from Armenia.
