Christian Education Workshop in Detroit

On Saturday, November 11, Diocesan Christian Education director Elise Antreassian met with the Sunday School staff of the St. John Church in Southfield, MI, for a 4-hour workshop titled “Sharing a Vision, Building a Team.”

Sessions surveyed the specific goals of faith formation, principles of faith development, and recent studies, including some by the Diocese, on the mindset of today’s church membership. Curriculum, resources, website innovations, and effective teaching habits were touched upon—but the focus stayed on the spiritual journey and personal faith of teachers.

“It’s often said, but no less true: hearts for God are shaped by believing adults living their faith,” Elise Antreassian noted. “The living faith of parents, Sunday School teachers, and parishioners is what children notice—and what they imitate in their own lives.” The conversation continued on Sunday morning with a special parent meeting, during which they explored simple ways parents can honor God at home and share the faith journey with their children.
