IN-PERSON EVENTS: Armenian Genocide Commemorations in Binghamton, NY
St. Gregory the Illuminator Church of Binghamton, NY, will hold Armenian Genocide commemorative events on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Apr. 21-23. On Friday, Apr. 21, at 10 a.m., the Armenian flag will be raised outside City Hall, with Mayor Richard Kraham attending. On Saturday, Apr. 22, at 10:30 a.m., an outdoor prayer service will take place at the city’s Genocide Monument (Conklin Ave., at south end of S. Washington St. Bridge). (In case of rain, the gathering will meet safely in the church sanctuary, 12 Corbett Ave., Binghamton.) A screening of the documentary Everybody Prays at Holy Etchmiadzin will follow in the church hall. On Sunday, Apr. 23, at 10:30 a.m., the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the church for the Feast of the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide. The 2023 Times Square commemoration of the Armenian Genocide will be held on Sunday, Apr. 23, at 1:30 p.m., at 43rd St. & Broadway, New York City. This is the 39th annual gathering, sponsored by the Knights of Vartan and a host of Armenian organizations.
