Artsakh Documentary Screening: “1489” at the Museum of the Moving Image (NYC)
The award-winning documentary on the 2020 Artsakh war, titled 1489, will have its New York premier at the Museum of the Moving Image’s Redstone Theater (36-01 35 Ave., Astoria, NY), on Saturday, Mar. 16, at 6:15 p.m. First-time director Shoghakat Vardanyan will attend the screening in person to discuss the film, which traces her experience during the war when her brother, 21-year-old student-musician Soghomon, was thrust into battle, and subsequently went missing in action. (His disappearance was assigned the clerical case number 1489, hence the film’s title.) The film was named as “Best Film” at the 2023 International Documentary Film Association (IDFA) Festival, among other awards. For information on the screening, and to purchase tickets, click here.
