On behalf of Fr. Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese, we share the following statement issued on December 15 by Armenian organizations in the U.S., condemning the latest Azeri outrage and alerting the world to the existential threat posed to the Armenian people in Artsakh.
During her funeral on December 14, the late Sylva Der Stepanian was eulogized by Fr. Untzag Nalbandian: longtime friend and co-worker of Sylva, with whom he shared many interests, concerns and convictions.
Prompted by this week’s news from Artsakh–involving the closure of the road connecting it to Armenia, and the shutting down of its gas supplies–Diocesan Primate Fr. Mesrop Parsamyan sent a “call to action” to the faithful of the Eastern Diocese.
With the deepest regret, the Eastern Diocese mourns the loss of Sylva Der Stepanian: a leading figure on the Diocesan staff from the 1970s into the 21st century, who pioneered its Armenian language and culture programs.
