Retrace Your Armenian Roots: Join the Diocese’s Pilgrimage to Akhtamar

Join the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America on a once-in-a-lifetime Pilgrimage to Akhtamar: Retracing Our Armenian Roots, scheduled for September 1–12, 2026.

This journey of discovery will trace the deep spiritual, cultural, and historical legacy of the Armenian people across centuries.

Pilgrims will visit sacred and storied destinations such as…

  • The medieval ruins of Ani, the “City of 1,001 Churches”
  • The breathtaking island of Akhtamar, and its Holy Cross Cathedral
  • The shores of Lake Van, heartland of ancient Armenian civilization
  • The vibrant cities of Kars, Erzurum, and Tigranakert
  • The historic regions of Mush, Urfa, and Aintab
  • The Cilician strongholds of Sis, Adana, and Tarsus
  • The ancient Christian center of Antioch
  • And the timeless splendor of Istanbul

The pilgrimage is being led by Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, assisted by Fr. Armash Bagdasarian and Fr. Mardiros Chevian, who will guide the faithful on this deeply meaningful journey.

This is a rare opportunity not simply to travel, but to encounter the living memory of our people—to walk the lands where Armenian faith and identity were forged, and to reflect on the enduring strength of our heritage.

Don’t miss this chance to deepen your faith and reconnect with the roots of Armenian Christian history.
