On Sunday, November 23, St. Leon Church in Fair Lawn, NJ, welcomed Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, who celebrated the Divine Liturgy and ordained 25 new acolytes and subdeacons. The new altar servers have demonstrated a sincere commitment to Christ, reflecting years of guidance and formation within the parish community.
St. Leon pastor Fr. Diran Bohajian assisted the Primate throughout the service. Also taking part in the occasion was Fr. Avedis Kalayjian, visiting from St. Mesrob Church in Racine, WI.
In his remarks congratulating the new altar servers, Bishop Mesrop acknowledged the devoted parents who nurtured their children in the life of the church, and the steady leadership of their pastor, Fr. Diran, along with the senior deacons, mentors, and parish community.
“I extend my gratitude to Der Diran and Yn. Kismet; to the deacons and choir, the parish council, and the entire St. Leon community for their ongoing dedication to the mission of the church,” said Bishop Mesrop. “Together, let us offer prayers for these newly ordained altar servers as they begin their ministry to our Lord.”
