In Memoriam: Lucia Vorperian

The staff members of the Eastern Diocese join our colleagues of the Fund for Armenian Relief in mourning the loss of Lucia Vorperian, who passed away this week, far before her time, after a period of illness.

Lucia was the dear wife of our longtime colleague and friend, Arto Vorperian, who has been an indispensable fixture of the Fund for Armenian Relief for some 30 years. The were a devoted and tender couple, natives of Armenia, who came to this country and never ceased to give their energies to helping our homeland and its people. Lucia is survived by Arto, by their two daughters Karine Grillo and Marine Beaton, and by two grandchildren who have been the delight of the Vorperians later years.

The schedule of services is as follows: Visitation hours will take place on Sunday, October 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. (with the dahn gark service at 8 p.m.), at Holy Martyrs Armenian Church (209-15 Horace Harding Expy., Bayside, NY).

The funeral for Lucia Vorperian will take place on Monday, October 31, at 9:30 a.m., also at Holy Martyrs Church. A graveside service will follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery (500 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, NY).

The family has requested that memorial donations may be made to the Fund for Armenian Relief; Holy Martyrs Armenian Language School (HMALS); and Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.

May our Lord grant peaceful rest to his servant Lucia Vorperian, and bring consolation to her loved ones in the coming days.
