New York’s Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral will host an ecumenical prayer service as part of this year’s “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity,” on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., at Holy Trinity Cathedral (337 East 74th St., New York City). For 2026, the annual Week of Prayer will have a special focus on the Armenian Church, with services reflecting the spirituality of the Armenian Christian tradition, incorporating prayers and hymns by St. Nersess Shnorhali and St. Gregory of Narek. Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan and distinguished church leaders from New York City’s Eastern and Western traditions will gather to pray for Christian Unity. St. Leon Church in Fair Lawn, NJ, will host a “Paregentan Celebration” on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., in the church’s Abajian Hall (12-61 Saddle River Rd., Fair Lawn). To welcome the New Year in traditional Armenian fashion, New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral will hold a special “Blessing of Pomegranates” service on Sunday, December 28, 2025. The Divine Liturgy will begin at 10 a.m., with the blessing service following at 12 noon. Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan will preside, with Fr. Davit Karamyan celebrating. All are welcome to attend the services and the festive fellowship hour afterwards in Guild Hall of the Diocesan Center. The cathedral is located at 630 Second Ave. (at 34th St.), in New York City.
