St. Gregory the Enlightener Church of White Plains, NY, will host a talk by filmmaker Leah Bedrosian Peterson, who will discuss her award-winning animated short “Under the Walnut Tree,” commemorating the Armenian Genocide. The Holy Martyrs Church of Bayside, NY, will hold its annual “Oceania Street Armenian Festival” on Saturday, Sep. 14, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, on Oceania Street in Bayside. Diocesan Primate Bishop Daniel Findikyan will deliver the annual “Fr. John Meyendorff Memorial Lecture” at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary (575 Scarsdale Rd., Yonkers, NY), on Friday, Oct. 11. His talk will celebrate 50 years of collaboration between St. Vladimir’s and St. Nersess Armenian Seminary. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with Armenian vespers in the Three Hierarch’s Chapel, followed at 7 p.m. by Bishop Daniel’s lecture in the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium of John J. New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral will hold a special service on the evening of Sunday, Sep. 15, at 6:30 p.m., to celebrate Khatchveratz: the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Diocesan Primate Fr. Daniel Findikyan will preside over a Medz Antasdan service, with clergy and deacons from the region participating. Worshippers will be able to venerate a rarely-seen treasure of the cathedral: a relic of the True Cross. All are welcome. The service will start at 6:30 p.m., at the cathedral (630 Second Ave., New York) and runs about 90 minutes.
