The 8th annual gathering of youth from Oriental Orthodox churches will take place on Saturday, Dec. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the St. Mary Coptic School (80 David St., South River, NJ). The event is sponsored by the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Youth Association (SCOOYA). Diocesan Primate Bp. Daniel Findikyan will attend with the leaders of our sister Oriental Orthodox churches. The conference theme, “Women in Oriental Orthodoxy,” will feature keynote speakers and a panel of women from each of the jurisdictions: Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian, Syriac, Malankara Syriac, and Eritrean churches. The Eastern Diocese’s Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center will welcome Sato Moughalian for a talk on her new book, Feast of Ashes: The Life and Art of David Ohannessian, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., in Guild Hall of the Diocesan Center (630 Second Ave., New York). The book follows the journey of ceramic artist Ohannessian from Kutahya to Jerusalem. The lecture is part of the Zohrab Center’s fall 2019 series on Monasticism.
