On September 21, Armenian Independence Day, a special prayer service for the Republic of Armenia went forward at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, with the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians.
Marking the 33rd anniversary of Armenia’s independence referendum, the clergy of Etchmiadzin’s monastic brotherhood offered prayers for peace and security for the people of Armenia and Artsakh.
On the same occasion, the Catholicos of All Armenians issued a special message to the entire Armenian people. Read an English translation and the original Armenian below.

On Armenian Independence Day: September 21, 2024
Dear Faithful People:
On this sacred Independence Day, we convey our blessings and best wishes to all our people, from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
More than three decades ago, our people reaffirmed their independent statehood with a vision and commitment to embrace the sacred values handed down by their ancestors, in order to build a bright future of the Motherland. In this noble aspiration, the children of our nation together faced difficulties and tribulations, while recording significant achievements and progress.
Today, our country and people are going through new trials. Artsakh is occupied; our children of Artsakh are displaced; and peace on the borders of Armenia is unstable. We are again facing security issues and new threats.
In order to strengthen our state, to face external and internal challenges, it is imperative to be united with the Lord’s love, so that we can rediscover the path to further victories and successes. Now, let us value the gift of having an independent state, and put the national, state, and universal interest above all.
Relying on God, let us build our country with new testimonies of works of faith, hope, and love, and with our dedicated efforts, let us realize our national aspirations, becoming worthy of the praise of the psalmist: “Blessed is the nation whose helper is the Lord God” (Ps. 32:12).
Our prayer is that Almighty God will keep our homeland peaceful and safe, lead our people on the path of justice and solidarity, and deliver a safe and prosperous life to our entire nation, living in our homeland and in the diaspora.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us, and with everyone.

ՇՆՈՐՀԱՎՈՐԱԿԱՆ ՈՒՂԵՐՁԸ ՀՀ ԱՆԿԱԽՈՒԹՅԱՆ ՕՐՎԱ ԱՌԻԹՈՎ
Անկախության նվիրական տոնի առիթով Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնից Հայրապետական Մեր օրհնությունն ու բարեմաղթանքներն ենք բերում համայն մեր ժողովրդին:
Առավել քան երեք տասնամյակ առաջ մեր ժողովուրդը վերահաստատեց իր անկախ պետականությունը` նախնյաց ավանդած սուրբ արժեքներով ապրելու, հայրենիքի լուսավոր գալիքը կառուցելու տեսլականով և հանձնառությամբ: Այս վսեմ ձգտման մեջ ազգիս զավակները միասնաբար դիմակայեցին բազում դժվարությունների ու նեղությունների, արձանագրեցին նշանակալի ձեռքբերումներ և առաջընթաց։
Այսօր նոր փորձությունների միջով է անցնում հայրենի մեր երկիրն ու ժողովուրդը․ բռնազավթված է Արցախը, տեղահանված՝ Արցախի մեր զավակները, և անկայուն է խաղաղությունը Հայաստանի սահմաններին։ Վերստին կանգնած ենք անվտանգային հիմնախնդիրների և նոր սպառնալիքների առջև։
Մեր պետության հզորացման, արտաքին և ներքին մարտահրավերների դիմագրավման համար հրամայական է Տերունապատվեր սիրով միախորհուրդ ու միասնական լինելը, որպեսզի կարողանանք վերագտնել պանծալի հաղթանակների և հաջողությունների ուղին։ Արդ, արժևորենք անկախ պետականություն ունենալու շնորհը և ամենից վեր դասենք ազգային, պետական և համընդհանուր շահը։
Ապավինած Աստծուն շենացնենք մեր երկիրը հավատի, հույսի և սիրո գործերի նոր վկայություններով և մեր նվիրյալ ջանքերով իրագործենք ազգային մեր իղձերը՝ արժանի դառնալով սաղմոսերգուի օրհնաբանությանը․ «Երանի այն ազգին, որի օգնականը Տեր Աստված է» (Սաղմ. 32:12)։
Մեր հայցն է առ Բարձրյալն Աստված, որ խաղաղ ու անվտանգ պահի հայրենի մեր երկիրը, մեր ժողովրդին առաջնորդի արդարության ու համերաշխության ուղիներով՝ ապահով ու բարօր կյանք պարգևելով ազգիս ի հայրենիս և ի սփյուռս աշխարհի։
