The spirit of giving and compassion filled the air at the Diocesan Center in New York City on December 25: Christmas Day. In a beautiful display of community outreach and fellowship, volunteers from St. Vartan Cathedral, in collaboration with the Community of Sant’Egidio, came together to host a special outreach luncheon.
About 300 of New York City’s most vulnerable residents were welcomed with open arms and served a warm, nourishing meal. This gathering took place in the heart of our community, at the Diocesan Center, in Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium, where the air buzzed with the energy of 60 dedicated volunteers from the St. Vartan Cathedral and Sant’Egidio communities.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, and Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, joined the event. Their presence brought warmth and inspiration, reflecting the true meaning of Christmas—unity, love, and compassion.
The spirit of generosity went beyond the food. Prior to this heartfelt event, our volunteers had also gathered warm clothing and various essential items, which were lovingly presented as gifts to each visitor.
“This Christmas, we were reminded that the greatest gift one can offer is the gift of love and service to one another,” reflected Bishop Mesrop. “Our luncheon was not just about sharing a meal; it was about sharing our hearts and showing that in our community, no one is ever truly alone. Let us carry this message of unity and compassion throughout the year. Merry Christmas and blessings to all!”

Ս. Վարդան Մայր Տաճարի Հոգեպարար Ձեռնարկ Ծնունդի Առթիւ
Բարեգործութեան եւ ողորմածութեան հոգիով յագեցած մթնոլորտ կը տիրէր Նիւ Եորք քաղաքի Առաջնորդարանի Կեդրոնին մէջ այս Դեկտեմբեր 25-ին: Ծնունդի առիթով Ս. Վարդան Մայր Տաճարի կամաւոր նուիրեալներ միացան Սուրբ Էճիտիոյի Ընկերակցութեան եւ պատրաստեցին հացկերոյթ մը մեր շուրջ ապրող տնանկներուն եւ նուազ բախտաւորներուն համար:
Սիրոյ եւ գթութեան այս սքանչելի վկայութեան շնորհիւ, շուրջ 300 կարօտեալներ ուրախութեամբ եւ սիրով հիւրընկալուեցան մեր յարկին տակ եւ վայելեցին տաքուկ եւ սննդարար ճաշ մը: Հայկ եւ Ալիս Գավուքճեան սրահը կը բաբախէր Ս. Վարդան Տաճարին եւ Սուրբ Էճիտիոյի Ընկերակցութեան 60 նուիրեալ կամաւորներուն սիրով:
Թեմիս բարեջան Առաջնորդ Տ. Մեսրոպ սրբազան եպիսկոպոսը եւ Միացեալ Ազգերու Կազմակերպութեան մօտ Սուրբ Աթոռին Մնայուն Դիտորդ Գաբրիէլ Ճորտանոյ Գաչչա Արքեպիսկոպոսը միացան այս ձեռնարկին: Անոնց ներկայութիւնը իմաստաւորեց այս ձեռնարկին հոգեւոր բնոյթը, բերելով միութեան, սիրոյ, եւ ողորմածութեան ճշմարիտ հոգին, որ կեանքի կու գայ բոցավառելով Ծնունդի տօնական օրերը:
Առատաձեռնութեան հոգին պարզ ճաշէն անդին կ’անցնէր, որովհետեւ այս նուիրական ձեռնարկին առիթով մեր կամաւորները պատրաստած էին նաեւ տաք զգեստեղէն եւ այլ պիտանի գոյքերու ծրարներ, որ սրտաբուղխ ուրախութեամբ բաշխեցին հիւրերուն:
“Ծնունդի այս օրերուն, յիշենք որ մեծագոյն նուէրը զոր կարող ենք տալ մեր ընկերոջ՝ սէր է եւ ծառայութիւն,” նշեց Մեսրոպ Սրբազան. “Մեր պատրաստած սեղանը պարզապէս ճաշ մը հրամցնել չէ, այլ տալ է մեր սիրտը, վկայել է մեր համայնքին՝ որ ոչ մէկը լքուած է միայնութեան: Ամբողջ տարին հռչակենք սիրոյ եւ միութեան այս պատգամը: Շնորհաւոր Սուրբ Ծնունդ եւ օրհնեալ ըլլաք ամէնքդ:”
