117th Diocesan Assembly Convening This Week

Hundreds of Armenian Church leaders from across the Eastern Diocese will gather this week for the 117th Diocesan Assembly, meeting May 2-4, at the Boston Marriott Burlington Hotel, in Burlington, MA.

The St. James Church of Watertown is hosting the gathering, as well as the Clergy Conference (meeting April 29-May 2) and Women’s Guild Assembly (see below).

Diocesan Primate the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan will preside. This year’s assembly theme, “Christ’s Healing in a Broken World,” expresses a pastoral theme Fr. Findikyan has been developing in his first year as Primate.

At the annual awards banquet on Friday, May 3, Dr. Helen Evans of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art will be honored as this year’s “Friend of the Armenians.” The Diocese’s 2019 “Armenian Church Members of the Year” award will be given to Edward (posthumously) and Nancy Guleserian.

See the St. James Church’s website and its dedicated Diocesan Assembly Facebook page for information on the assembly and its related events.

Women’s Guild Assembly

The 33rd annual Women’s Guild Assembly will convene May 2-4, in conjunction with the Diocesan Assembly in Burlington, MA. Women’s Guild delegates from around the Diocese will meet to participate in business sessions, elections, and interactive workshops. The event is being organized by the Women’s Guild Central Council.

Presenters will include Lucy Vozzy, Rhonda Boyajian, Yn. Hasmig Ajemian, and Yn. Natasha Aljalian. The gathering will end with the annual “Women of Wonder” awards luncheon and raffle on Saturday, May 4. (For RSVP, ticket, and other details, click on the links to view a flyer.)
