CHRISTMAS MESSAGE OF BISHOP MESROP PARSAMYAN

Rescue, Restoration, & Reconciliation
On the very first Christmas night, heaven broke its silence. Shepherds were standing in the darkness, watching their flocks—when suddenly the sky was filled with light. An angel of the Lord appeared and said words that would echo forever through history:
“Do not be afraid! For I bring you good news of great joy, that will be for all the people. Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord!” (Luke 2:10–11).
That is how Christmas begins—with Good News. Not advice. Not warnings. Not conditions. But “Good News of great joy for all people.”
Friends, at the heart of Christmas is Good News. It’s not the good news of presents under a tree. It’s not the good news of a big meal. It’s not even the good news of spending time with friends and family.
Christmas is about the Good News of God’s love.
Christmas tells us that God did not stay far away from our struggles. He saw our condition. He saw our struggle and need. And God acted. He sent His Son not to judge the world, but to save it. Jesus came to seek those who were lost, and to restore what had been broken. He came for ordinary people, for wounded people, for tired people—for people like you and me.
We hear the word “salvation” often in church. But sometimes we forget how personal it really is. It means that when we cannot save ourselves, God steps in to rescue us. It means we are not left alone in our guilt, our failures, our fears, or our past. God loves us too much to leave us the way we were.
That is why Christ came. Jesus entered our helpless condition and did what we could never do for ourselves. On the cross, He paid our debt. In the resurrection, He opened the door to new life. Christ came to our rescue—and indeed, Rescue is one of the deepest meanings of Salvation.
Salvation also means Restoration. God takes broken lives and makes them whole. He heals wounded hearts. He restores lost hope. He gives peace where there was turmoil, and purpose where there was emptiness.
Finally, Salvation means Reconciliation. Before the birth of Christ, mankind’s relationship with God had been broken. But God did not stand apart in unforgiving anger. Instead, He reached out with open arms. Through Jesus Christ, our broken relationship with God is made right again.
Rescue, Restoration, and Reconciliation. That is what the birth of Jesus brought to mankind 2,000 years ago. That is the opportunity of Salvation that God opened up for us.
On the very first Christmas, God gave the world His greatest gift: His Son. And that same gift is still available 2,000 years later, on the Christmas we are celebrating now. Salvation through Jesus Christ is God’s gift to you—today.
The question for every heart is simple: Will you receive Him?
That is the question I hope and pray all our faithful will answer, with the beautiful words of our Armenian Christmas greeting:
Krisdos dzunav yev haydnetsav! Ohrnyal eh haydnoutiunun Krisdosi!
Christ is born and revealed! Blessed is the revelation of Christ!

Տ. ՄԵՍՐՈՊ ԵՊԻՍԿՈՊՈՍ ՊԱՐՍԱՄԵԱՆԻ Ս. ԾՆՆԴԵԱՆ ՊԱՏԳԱՄԸ
Ազատութիւն, Նորոգում, Հաշտութիւն
Առաջին Ծննդեան գիշերը երկինքը կոտրեց իր լռութիւնը: Հովիւները խաւարին մէջ կը պահպանէինիրենց հօտերը, երբ յանկարծակի Տիրոջ փառքը ծագեցաւ եւ լեցուց ամբողջ երկինքը: Տիրոջ Հրեշտակըերեւցաւ եւ խօսեցաւ պատգամը՝ որ միշտ պիտի հնչէ պատմութեան մէջ.
Մի՛ վախնաք, ահա՛ ձեզի կ’աւետեմ մեծ ուրախութիւն մը, որ բոլոր ժողովուրդին ուրախութիւնը պիտիըլլայ: Որովհետեւ այսօր Դաւիթի քաղաքին մէջ Փրկիչ մը ծնաւ ձեզի, որ Օծեալ Տէրն է: (Ղուկաս 2:10–11):
Այսպէս, արդարեւ, սկիզբ կ’առնէ Ծնունդը–Աւետիս է: Ո՛չ խրատ. ո՛չ ազդարարութիւն. ո՛չպայմանադրութիւն. այլ՝ Աւետիս–“մեծ ուրախութիւն մը, որ բոլոր ժողովուրդին ուրախութիւնը պիտիըլլայ:”
Սիրելիներ, Ծնունդին սիրտն ու հոգին կը կազմէ Աւետիսը. տօնածառին տակ զետեղուած նուէրներունուրախ լուրը չէ այդ. համադամ հացկերոյթի մը ուրախ լուրը չէ այդ. եւ ոչ՝ բարի լուրը ընտանիքի եւբարեկամներու ընկերութիւնը վայելելու:
Ծնունդը Աստուծոյ սիրոյն Աւետիսն է:
Ծնունդի պատգամն է՝ որ Աստուած մեր դժուարութիւններէն հեռու չմնաց: Ան տեսաւ մեր վիճակը.տեսաւ մեր դժուարութիւններն ու կարիքները. եւ Աստուած գործի անցաւ: Ան ղրկեց Իր Որդին՝ ոչ թէդատելու աշխարհը, այլ փրկելու զայն: Յիսուս եկաւ փնտռելու անոնք որ կորսուած էին, եւվերականգնելու անոնք որ գլորած էին: Ան եկաւ սովորական մարդոց համար, վիրաւոր մարդոց համար, վհատած մարդոց համար–ձեզի եւ ինծի նման մարդոց համար:
Եկեղեցիներուն մէջ յաճախակի կը լսենք “փրկութեան” մասին: Բայց շատ անգամներ կը մոռնանք որորքան անձնական է այդ փրկութիւնը: Կը նշանակէ որ երբ մենք անկարող ենք փրկելու մենք զմեզ,Աստուած կը ձեռնարկէ մեր ազատագրումին: Կը նշանակէ որ մենք չենք լքուած մեր յանցանքներունմէջ, մեր ձախողութիւններուն, մեր վախերուն, կամ մեր անցեալին մէջ: Աստուած մեզ անհուն կերպով կըսիրէ եւ թոյլ չի տար մեզի՝ մնալու մեր հնութեան մէջ:
Այս է այն՝ որուն համար Քրիստոս եկաւ: Յիսուս մտաւ մեր անօգնական վիճակին մէջ եւ կատարեց այն՝ինչ մենք մեզի երբեք պիտի չկարենայինք կատարել: Խաչին վրայ Ան վճարեց մեր պարտամուրհակը: Յարութեամբ Ան բացաւ դռները նոր կեանքի: Քրիստոս եկաւ մեզ ազատելու–արդարեւ Ազատութիւնըմեր Փրկագործութեան ամէնէն խոր իմաստներէն մին է:
Փրկագործութիւն կը նշանակէ նաեւ Նորոգում: Աստուած խորտակուած կեանքերը կ’առնէ զանոնքվերականգնելու համար: Ան վիրաւոր սրտերը կը բուժէ: Ան կորուսեալ յոյսերը կը վերականգնէ: Անխաղաղութիւն կը բերէ՝ ուր խռովութիւն կը տիրէ, եւ իմաստ կը ներարկէ ուր պարապութիւն կայ:
Հուսկ՝ Փրկագործութիւնը կը նշանակէ Հաշտութիւն: Մինչեւ Քրիստոսի Ծնունդը՝ մարդոց յարաբերութիւնըԱստուծոյ հետ խափանուած էր. բայց Աստուած հեռու չմնաց աններող բարկութեամբ: Ընդհակառակը՝Ան եկաւ մեզի բաց գիրկով. Յիսուս Քրիստոսի միջնորդութեամբ մեր խափանուած կապը Աստուծոյ հետվերահաստատուեցաւ:
Ազատութիւն, Նորոգում, Հաշտութիւն: Այս է զոր Յիսուսի ծնունդը երկու հազար տարիներ առաջ տուաւմարդոց: Այս է Փրկութեան առիթը զոր Աստուած բացաւ մեր առաջ:
Առաջին Ծնունդին՝ Աստուած ամենամեծ նուէրը տուաւ աշխարհի՝ Իր Որդին: Միեւնոյն այդ Նուէրը կուտայ երկու հազար տարիներ յետոյ, Ծնունդին՝ զոր այսօր կը տօնենք: Յիսուս Քրիստոսի միջոցովփրկութիւնը նուէրն է Աստուծոյ՝ քեզի համար–այսօր:
Ամէն սրտի համար հարցը այս է. պիտի ընդունի՞նք զԻնք:
Աղօթքս է եւ յոյսս՝ որ ամէն հաւատացեալ պատասխանէ այս հրաւէրին Ծնունդի մեր հայկական գեղեցիկմաղթանքով՝
Քրիստոս ծնաւ եւ յայտնեցաւ:
Օրհնեալ է յայտնութիւնն Քրիստոսի:
