CHRISTMAS MESSAGE OF BISHOP MESROP PARSAMYAN

Rejoice with Heaven and Earth
“Heaven was delighted! The Earth rejoiced!
Christ God walked among mankind.” (Sharagan of the Nativity)
These are the words Armenian Christians sing in praise of Christ’s birth. And what powerful words they are! They remind us that when our Lord Jesus was born, heaven and earth joined together in an explosion of joy. Something extraordinary happened that changed the course of history forever.
Heaven touched earth on that day when Jesus came into the world. The angels couldn’t contain their excitement—they sang to the shepherds: “Glory to God in the highest!” The earth responded with joy as Creation itself welcomed its Creator in human flesh. The birth of Jesus was not just a moment in time; it was a divine intersection where the eternal met the everyday, where God came down to meet us where we are.
The infinite, eternal God chose to be “God with us.” And thus, He showed us that He is not some distant deity, remote from human life. He is right here; right now; close at hand. God stepped into our world, became one of us, and made a promise: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
That’s the kind of love we celebrate at Christmas.
Yet the story of Christmas isn’t only about love and joy. It’s also a story that challenges us, as it speaks to the realities of human life. Think of Mary and Joseph, who were turned away at every door. Think of Jesus, the King of Kings, who was born in a stable. Even from the very beginning, love was met with rejection, and light was met with indifference.
But doesn’t that sound familiar? Today, we are surrounded by so much busy-ness, so much distraction. If we’re not careful, we can lose sight of the true light of Christmas—the light of Jesus—and find ourselves in the shadows.
But here’s the good news: Christmas is not just a reminder of what is wrong in the world; it’s a promise of what God has made right. Yes, the world can be dark; there are moments when love is rejected. But Christmas declares that darkness does not win. The light of Jesus shines through. And His light is gentle. It is not meant to frighten or overwhelm us. It’s here to draw us in, to wrap us in divine love, to remind us that we are never alone.
My friends, perhaps you are feeling alone today? Perhaps you’re walking through some darkness of your own? Maybe it’s a struggle in your family, a challenge at work, a burden that’s been weighing you down.
Do not let your heart be discouraged. Let the light of Jesus shine into that darkness! His light is full of hope. His love is full of promise. He knows your struggles, and He came into this world to show you that no matter what you’re facing, He is with you.
“Christ God walked among mankind.” What an incredible thought: the Creator of the universe humbled Himself to walk beside us. He came as a baby, born in a manger, to share in our joys and sorrows, to heal our wounds—and to redeem our lives. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and welcomed the outcast. When Christ walked among us, He showed us the heart of God.
As we celebrate this season of His birth, don’t be afraid to rejoice with heaven and earth. And be sure to carry that joy into the world around you. Because just as Christ walked among human beings 2,000 years ago, He is still walking with us today. In every challenge, in every joy, God is present in your life. And through you, He wants to touch the lives of others.
So, lift your head high to sing with all of Creation. Heaven is delighted, and earth is rejoicing. Christ our God is with us! And that, my friends, changes everything.

Ցնծացէք Երկինք եւ Երկիր
“Երկինքը կը ցնծար, եւ երկիրը կ’ուրախանար,
քանզի Քրիստոս Աստուած մարդոց մէջ մէջ շրջեցաւ:” (Շարական Ս. Ծննդեան)
Աշխարհասփիւռ հայ քրիստոնեաներս այս բառերով Քրիստոսի ծննդեան փառքը կ’երգենք: Ի՜նչ հզօր խօսքեր, որ մեզի կը յուշեն թէ ինչպէս երկինք ու երկիր պայծառացան մեր Տիրոջ ծնունդով՝ եւ ցնծութեան աւետիսով յորդեցան: Սքանչելի հրաշք էր տեղի ունեցածը, որ ամբողջովին կերպարանափոխեց պատմութեան ընթացքն ու նպատակը:
Յիսուսի ծնունդով՝ երկինքը իջաւ երկիր. հրեշտակներու բազմութիւնը իրենց ցնծութիւնը արտայայտեց հովիւներուն ազդարարելով աստուածային օրհնութիւնը, “Փառք Աստուծոյ բարձունքներուն մէջ:” Եւ երկիրը ուրախութեամբ պատասխանեց ի տես տիեզերքի Արարիչին մարդեղութեան: Յիսուսի ծնունդը րոպէական դիպուածք մը չէր, այլ խառնումն էր յաւիտենականին եւ մեր առօրեային, երբ Աստուած իջաւ մեզի ընդառաջ՝ մեր մէջ:
Անպարագրելին, յաւիտենականն Աստուած յանձն առաւ ըլլալու “Աստուած մեզի հետ:” Եւ այդպէս ցոյց տուաւ որ հեռաւոր աստուածութիւն մը չէր, անբաժին մարդկային կեանքէն: Ան այստեղ է, այժմ, մեր կողքին: Աստուած մուտք գործեց այս աշխարհին մէջ, մեզի նման մէկը եղաւ, եւ խոստացաւ որ “Պիտի չթողում ձեզ միայնակ, պիտի չլքեմ ձեզ երբեք:”
Ահա այս սէրն է որ կը տօնենք Սուրբ Ծնունդին:
Սակայն Ծննդեան պատմութիւնը սոսկ ուրախութեան եւ սիրոյ մասին չէ: Է՛ նաեւ հրաւէր՝ որ մեզի ասպարէզ կը կարդայ, որովհետեւ մեր առաջ կը դնէ մարդկային կեանքին իրողութիւնները: Մտաբերենք Մարիամ եւ Յովսէփ, որ մերժուեցան ամէն դուռէ զոր բախեցին: Մտաբերենք Տէր Յիսուս, արքայից արքան, որ ծնաւ ախոռի մը մէջ եւ բազմեցաւ մսուրի մը վրայ: Առաջին իսկ րոպէէն Սէրը մերժուեցաւ, եւ Լոյսը անտարբեր աչքերու մէջ ինկաւ:
Բայց այս նորութիւ՞ն է. մեր առօրեան լեցուն է բազում զբաղումներով, եւ շատ ու շատ ցրումներով: Եթէ զգոյշ չըլլանք, կը հեռացնենք Սուրբ Ծննդեան ճշմարիտ լոյսը–Լոյս Քրիստոս–իյնալով ստուերներու ներքեւ:
Եւ սակայն մեծ է աւետիսը, որովհետեւ Ծնունդը չի յիշեցներ միայն աշխարհի ժխտական կողմերը, այլ ուխտն է որ Աստուած իրաւունք եւ արդարութիւն հաստատեց: Այո, աշխարհը կրնայ խաւարային ըլլալ, եւ սէրը մերժուի. բայց Ծնունդը կը հռչակէ որ խաւարը յաղթող չէ: Յիսուսի լոյսը պայծառ կը փայլի: Եւ Անոր լոյսը հեզ է. մեզ ահ ու դողի չի մատներ. դէպի իրեն կը տանի մեզ, կը պատէ զմեզ աստուածային սիրով, եւ կը յուշէ մեզի որ երբեք միայնակ չենք:
Սիրելիներ, գուցէ միայնակ կը զգաք հիմա. գուցէ որոշ մթութեան մէջ կը քալէք. գուցէ ընտանեկան դժուարին հարցերու լուծում կը փնտռէք. գուցէ գործի անյաջողութիւն մը ունիք, կամ հոգեկան բեռ մը կը ծանրանայ ձեր վրայ:
Թոյլ մի՛ տաք որ սիրտերը տկարանան, այլ թոյլ տուէք որ Յիսուսի լոյսը փարատէ ձեր խաւարը. Անոր լոյսը յոյսով լեցուն է, եւ Սէրը՝ անկոտրում խոստումով: Ան գիտէ մեր դժուարութիւնները, եւ այս աշխարհ եկաւ ցոյց տալու համար որ հակառակ մեր ամէն դժուարութիւններուն՝ Ան մեզի հետ է:
“Քրիստոս Աստուած շրջեցաւ մարդոց մէջ:” Ի՜նչ հիասքանչ իրականութիւն, տիեզերքի Արարիչը ինքզինք խոնարհեցուց որպէսզի մեր հետ քալէ: Ան եկաւ որպէս մանուկ, մսուրին մէջ բազմած, հաղորդ ըլլալու մեր ուրախութիւններուն եւ մեր ցաւերուն, որպէսզի բուժէ մեր վէրքերը, եւ փրկանաւորէ մեր կեանքը: Ան կերակրեց անօթիները, բուժեց հիւանդները, եւ ընդունեցաւ մերժեալները; Քրիստոս մեր մէջ բնակելով յայտնեց մեզի Աստուծոյ սիրտը:
Անոր Ծնունդը տօնելով համարձակինք ուրախակից ըլլալու երկինքի եւ երկրի ցնծութեան, եւ տալու այդ ուրախութիւնը մեր չորս բոլորի աշխարհին: Ինչպէս Քրիստոս բնակեցաւ մարդոց մէջ երկու հազար տարիներ առաջ, նոյնպէս Ան կը բնակի մեր մէջ ա՛յսօր. ամէն դժուարութիւններու եւ ամէն ուրախութեան մէջ Աստուած ներկայ է մեր կեանքին մէջ: Եւ մեր միջոցով կը կամի լուսաւորել ուրիշներ եւս:
Ուստի բարձրացնենք մեր դէմքերը դէպի երկինք՝ երգելու համար տիեզերքին հետ. Երկինք կը ցնծայ եւ երկիրս կ’ուրախանայ, Քրիստոս Աստուած մեզի հետ է. եւ այդ, սիրելիներ, կը կերպարանափոխէ ամէն ինչ:
Քրիստոս ծնաւ եւ յայտնեցաւ:
Օրհնեալ է յայտնութիւնն Քրիստոսի:
