Sacred Music Festival: A Celebration of Armenian Church Music

The Eastern Diocese’s “Sacred Music Festival”a three-day celebration of Armenian Church musicwill run Friday to Sunday, October 4-6, at the St. James Church in Evanston, IL. Altar servers and choir members from across the Diocese are encouraged to attend the festival, which will also mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gomidas Vartabed.

As conceived by the Diocese’s Sacred Music Council, the “Sacred Music Festival” will feature instructional workshops with musical experts, educational seminars, concert performances of liturgical music, and the screening of a documentary on a vanishing aspect of liturgical singing. It is open to choral and instrumental musicians—indeed to all who love Armenian liturgical music, and wish to elevate their understanding and improve their performance.
