On Thursday, Feb. 27, St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City will observe Sts. Vartanantz Day, with a celebration of the Divine Liturgy and program presided over by Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan. New icons of St. Vartan and St. Shushanik (Vartan’s martyred daughter) will be unveiled and consecrated during the ceremony. The banquet and program in Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium will feature musical performances and a keynote presentation. Sponsored by the Knights and Daughters of Vartan. Our annual Feast of the Presentation of The Lord to the Temple is being observed this St. Valentine’s Day on Feb 14th at 10am. Led by Fr. Simeon Odabashian, the Presentation of Jesus marks the first time Jesus visited the temple in Jerusalem with his parents, Mary and Joseph following the Purification of Mary, which was ordered by the Mosaic Law to take place approximately 40 days after giving birth. This historical event also marks the Meeting of the Testaments, both Old and New, as Jesus enters the ancient temple. More details in this flyer.

St. Leon Church in Fair Lawn, NJ, will present a screening of the documentary Nişo’s Flute on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7:30 p.m, at the church (12-61 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn). FILM DESCRIPTION: Nişo’s Flute tells the story of two artists: Nishan Dikran (Master Nişo), an Armenian craftsman of wind instruments who returns to Dikranagert after surviving the Armenian Genocide, and Zülfü Yokuş (Zilfo), a Kurdish kaval player.
