The annual “Taste of Armenia Festival” of St. James Church, Evanston, IL, will take place on Sunday, Aug. 27, 12-6:30 p.m., in front of the church (located at 816 Clark Street, b/n Benson and Sherman Aves.). Enjoy the largest Armenian event in metro Chicago, where crowds of 2,500 come together for a leisurely afternoon of homemade specialties and fellowship. The Sunday School of Holy Martyrs Church in Bayside, NY, will host a “Springsteen Retreat” on Saturday, Sep. 9, 4-8:30 p.m. Fr. St. John Church of Greater Detroit will hold its “Church with the Golden Dome” tour on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. Tour the sanctuary with pastor Fr. Aren Jebejian and former pastor (and art historian) Fr. Garabed Kochakian; then view the Alex and Marie Manoogian Museum (America’s largest Armenian museum) with director Lucy Ardash. Costumes from the Heritage Collection, recreating styles of the 13th-19th centuries, will be modeled; a gallery of Armenian art will be displayed. St. Mark Church of Springfield, MA, will hold its annual Armenian Festival on Sunday, Sep. 3 on the church grounds, 12-6 p.m. Featuring a live Armenian band, dancing, delicious food (including St. Mark’s signature lamb shish kebab), authentic Armenian and international pastries, a raffle and prizes.
