The Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. will host a lecture on “The History of the Armenian Bible” by Dr. Jesse Arlen (Director of the Eastern Diocese’s Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center) on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at 3 p.m. EST: simultaneously IN-PERSON at the museum (Floor 6 Gathering Room: 400 4th St., SW, Washington, DC) and ONLINE via the Zoom platform (see below for credentials). Dr. Arlen will speak on the development of the Armenian Bible, and its sacred importance that enabled the spread of Christianity, the development of Armenian theology, and the survival of a distinct, unified cultural community.

The lecture is part of the Museum of the Bible’s Armenian Culture Celebration taking place all day on Jan. 29; click the following link for the full schedule of events. Events are free and open to the public. (NOTE: Guests do not need to be vaccinated or show proof of vaccination to visit the Museum of the Bible. However, to attend unvaccinated guests must have a medical or religious exemption and show a negative test within the last 24 hours.)

The Eastern Diocese’s Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center will host a poetry reading and book signing on Thursday, Mar. 10, at 7 p.m. EST, in Guild Hall of the Diocesan Center in NYC (630 Second Ave., New York). L.A. poet Shahé Mankerian will introduce his newly published collection, History of Forgetfulness, with NY-area scholars and poets offering readings. The Eastern Diocese’s Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center will host an online lecture by doctoral candidate Konrad Siekierski (King’s College, UK), titled “The Materiality of Armenian Christianity: Gospel Books as Sacred Objects.” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. EST, over the Zoom platform. The Eastern Diocese’s Krikor and Clara Zohrab Information Center will hold another evening of online instruction in classical Armenian, titled “Krapar yev Kini,” on Monday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. EST, over the Zoom video conference platform. This week, guest leader Arpi Nakashian will discuss a commentary on the Book of Job. St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Church (Wynnewood, PA) has initiated an online program for January titled “The Three Marys.” Once a week for the next three weeks, pastor Fr. Oshagan Gulgulian will send an e-mail message featuring an introduction to one of three Marys who were there with Him at the foot of the Holy Cross.
