The Armenian Genocide Commemoration Committee of Connecticut will host an in-person and online commemoration of the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on Saturday, Apr. 23, at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The event will take place at Holy Resurrection Church (1910 Stanley St., New Britain, CT), with simultaneous livestream. Click here to watch the livestream. Clergy from the state’s four Armenian churches will offer the “Prayer for the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.” (NOTE: As in past years, the Armenian flag will fly over the Connecticut State Capitol building Apr. 20-27, but the usual flag-raising ceremony at the State Capitol will not take place due to pandemic restrictions.) Keynote speaker journalist Lillian Avedian will speak on “Narrating Genocide: Journalism Without facts, Art Without Truth”; remarks by CT State Rep. Edwin Vargas; M.C. will be CT State Auditor John Geragosian; musical selections, candle lighting, and a reception will round out the program.
