The Cultural Committee of St. Thomas Church invites you to a special evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and New York Times bestselling author Peter Balakian, for a live reading and multimedia presentation of “A Poetry Reading in Diyarbakir.” Balakian will reflect on his powerful 2015 poetry reading in Diyarbakir, Turkey—historically known as Dikranagerd to Armenians. Through poetry, storytelling, and a PowerPoint presentation, Balakian will examine the deep connections between historical memory, cultural identity, and artistic expression.
