The Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America entered a new era of leadership on Friday, May 4, 2018, when the 116th Diocesan Assembly elected the Very Reverend Fr. Daniel Findikyan as the new Diocesan Primate.
The eagerly anticipated 50th anniversary celebration of St. Vartan Cathedral will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6, during a weekend of activities at the Diocesan Center (630 Second Avenue, at 34th Street) in New York City.
On that warm April morning in 1968, when the doors to a newly-built St. Vartan Cathedral swung open to welcome the procession of His Holiness Vasken I, Nazar Nazarian stood shoulder to shoulder with the proud witnesses.
The Eastern Diocese has announced that His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will not be traveling to the United States in early May, as had been scheduled.
