Some 300 worshippers took part in a con-celebrated Divine Liturgy of Oriental Orthodox churches on Saturday, October 11, at St. Leon Armenian Church of Fair Lawn, NJ. The majestic service involved clergy, choirs, altar servers, and faithful of the Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopian, Malankara, Syriac, Knanaya, and Eritrean churches.
The Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches convened its fall meeting on Thursday, October 9.
Saturday, September 27, marked a milestone for the Oriental Orthodox churches of the Maryland region, as the Medhane Alem Eritrean Orthodox Cathedral hosted the region’s first-ever concelebration of the Divine Liturgy.
On Tuesday, September 16, His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, met with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. It was the first personal meeting between the two church leaders.
It was the great religious convention of the 4th century: a gathering of Christian bishops from throughout the world, convened by no less an authority than the Roman Emperor Constantine I. This year marks its 1700th anniversary.
