ACYOA Juniors gathered over Memorial Day weekend at St. James Church of Watertown, MA, for the 40th annual Hye M’rtsoom program. The parish hosted a record-breaking 282 participants from 16 parishes across the Diocese for a weekend of worship, sports, and fellowship.

Pontifical Divine Liturgy in Washington, DC

On Saturday morning, May 9, some 3,000 attended a Pontifical celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It was the largest gathering of the National Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial held in Washington, DC, from May 7 to 9.

In the huge ballroom of Washington’s Marriott Marquis Hotel—splendidly chandeliered and bedecked with flowers, the eagerly-awaited, sold-out “awards banquet” took place on Saturday evening, May 9. It was the climactic event of the May 7 to 9 Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide Centennial, attended by some 2,500 guests from around the country.
113th Diocesan Assembly Meets in Washington
Clergy and lay delegates from across the Eastern Diocese gathered in Washington, DC, during the first week of May for the 113th Diocesan Assembly. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern), presided over the Assembly meetings, hosted by the St. Mary Church of Washington on May 7 and 8.
