This Sunday will be observed as Father’s Day across the United States: a chance to reflect, with gratitude, on the deeper meaning of fatherhood. While the surrounding popular culture may sometimes fail to treat fatherhood with due seriousness, the Armenian Church accords great reverence and respect to fathers.
On Saturday, June 19, the Armenian Church will observe one of several feast days associated with St. Gregory the Illuminator. This particular feast is dedicated to the saint’s later years and the discovery of his relics.
In life, he was celebrated as a prolific author and novelist, who was a pioneering activist in what would later be known as the cause of human rights.
On the weekend of June 4-5, 2021, the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection in New Britain, CT, and the entire Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, witnessed the holy sacrament of ordination, culminating in the consecration of a new priest to lead the faithful.
A special celebration will take place in the Eastern Diocese this weekend, as Dn. Michael Sabounjian is ordained as a priest of the Armenian Church, by the hand of Bishop Daniel.
