A Solemn Prayer, Twenty-Five Years After 9/11

Hard though it is to believe, a quarter-century has now elapsed since that infamous day: September 11, 2001. Today we offer prayers to God for His mercy, protection, and remembrance, as across our nation, people solemnly commemorate the passage of 25 years.

A Prayer on the Solemn 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks on America

Friday, September 11, 2026

LORD JESUS CHRIST OUR GOD, twenty-five years ago, in a dark hour for our beloved country of America, at a time of fear and turmoil, we turned to you for strength, understanding, and guidance. And again today, we ask you to hear our prayers.

Remember the souls of all those who perished in the terrible calamities of September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Receive them into the peace of your heavenly kingdom, and never cease to console their loved ones, who will always look back with grief upon their losses.

Bless, too, those who lost their lives or their loved ones in the two and a-half decades since that dreadful day. Tragically, casualties of injury, death, and misery continue up to the present, and we pray fervently for an end to violence everywhere, and the establishment of your peace among humankind.

Lord, we are deeply aware that there will be no end to evil in our world, until your Kingdom comes. During the past quarter-century, we have called upon you in other times of turmoil and demoralization, not only for America, but for the entire world—and most painfully for our homeland of Armenia and Artsakh. Bring peace and stability to our country, to our homeland, and to our world, Lord Jesus. Restore justice among your creatures: true justice that comes only from you. By the mystery of your all-powerful and miraculous Holy Cross, transform the world’s pain and devastation into new life and hope.

Above all, do not let us lose faith, but draw us ever closer to you; lift up our hearts with the assurance of your loving care and mercy.

For you are our God, the holy creator of heaven and earth, our hope and our refuge. To you we give glory, honor and worship, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
