The ACYOA Central Council hosted the annual ACYOA Seniors National Fall Retreat at St. Iakovos Retreat Center in Kansasville, WI, from November 7–9. More than 60 young adults from 24 parishes across the Eastern Diocese engaged in a weekend of spiritual growth and fellowship under this year’s theme, “Faith Over Fear.”
The Central Council collaborated with Jennifer Morris from the Diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries to plan the retreat sessions and coordinate the weekend.
The retreat began Friday evening with dinner and a welcome session led by the ACYOA Central Council. Lori Dorian and Shahe DerTorossian introduced the weekend’s theme, followed by icebreakers that helped participants connect.
Among them was Diocesan Primate Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, who joined the ACYOA youth in their activities throughout the weekend, led one of the sessions, and spent time engaging the participants in discussion.
The first evening concluded in the chapel with a “Prayers for Healing” service led by Fr. Yeprem Kelegian.
Dialogues on Faith and God
Saturday opened with Matins and a message from Fr. Andreas Garabedian. Bishop Mesrop led the first session, “Courage Powered by God,” and Fr. Hratch Sargsyan joined via the Zoom video conference platform for the second session titled “Recognizing Jesus in the Storm.”
After lunch, participants enjoyed free time, including wagon rides, sports, farm visits, and a “Clergy Chat” with Fr. Yeprem Kelegian and Fr. Andreas Garabedian, allowing open dialogue about faith and life as Armenian Christians.
Afternoon and evening sessions, led by the ACYOA Central Council, Diocesan staff, and St. Nersess seminarians, featured Scripture, videos, hands-on activities, and small group discussions. Participants took the initiative to teach one another Armenian dances and even hiked through the woods for a midnight candlelight prayer service.
St. Nersess seminarians supported the retreat throughout the weekend, assisting with prayer services and the Divine Liturgy.
Keep Walking in Faith
On Sunday, Fr. Sahak Kaishian celebrated badarak and delivered a sermon weaving together the lessons of the weekend. ACYOA members joyfully participated in the Divine Liturgy as altar servers, choir members, and engaged faithful.
Following brunch, the ACYOA Central Council and Jennifer Morris shared upcoming ACYOA initiatives, including the Christmas Giving Program, Mission Trip, Lenten Regional Retreats, ACYOA General Assembly and Sports Weekend, Diocesan Summer Camps (Hye Camp and St. Vartan Camp), and the summertime Armenia Service Program.
Reflecting on the weekend, Bishop Mesrop shared: “In a world that often feeds anxiety and uncertainty, we came together to be reminded that faith is stronger than fear—that when we trust in God, we can face any challenge with peace in our hearts and courage in our steps.”
He went on: “I was so moved by the passion of our youth—their energy, their questions, their desire to live their faith boldly. You could feel their hearts on fire for God. That kind of faith, that kind of joy, tells me that the future of our church is in very good hands.”
“To all our young people: keep walking in faith. When fear whispers that you can’t, let your faith declare that with God, you can. When life feels uncertain, remember that your steps are guided by a steady hand. You don’t have to see the whole path—just trust the One who walks beside you.”
The ACYOA Central Council is proud to have offered young adults a retreat weekend full of spiritual enrichment, fellowship, and meaningful conversations about faith. The participants left inspired and eager for more opportunities to grow together as a community of faith.

Հաւատք—Ո՛չ Վախ
Հայաստանեայց Եկեղեցւոյ Արեւելեան Թեմը նոյեմբեր 7–9 շաբաթավերջին գումարեց ՀԵԵԿ Երէցներուն Աշնանային հոգեւոր կրթութեան հաւաքոյթը Սբ. Եակովոս Կեդրոնին մէջ (Քանզասվիլ, Վիսքոնսին): Մասնակցեցան 60 երիտասարդներ, Թեմին 24 Ծուխերէ, խոկալու համար “Հաւատք—Ո՛չ Վախ” բնաբանով:
Երիտասարդները խանդավառ էին Մեսրոպ եպս. Պարսամեան Առաջնորդ Սրբազան Հօր մասնակցութեամբ, եւ առիթն ունեցան սորվելու անկէ եւ խօսելու անոր հետ: Առաջնորդ Հայրը վարեց առաջին մտածականը՝ “Քաջութիւն Աստուծոյ Զօրութեամբ” բնաբանով, որ գծեց շաբաթավերջի հաւաքոյթին հոգեւոր հայեցողութեան ընդհանուր ուղղութիւնը:
“Աշխարհի մը մէջ, որ յաճախ կը հրահրէ մտահոգութիւն ու անվստահութիւն,” խորհրդածեց Սրբազան Հայրը, “մենք հաւաքուած ենք վերյիշելու որ հաւատքը աւելի հզօր է քան վախը. եւ որ երբ մեր վստահութիւնը կը դնենք Աստուծոյ վրայ, կարող ենք դիմագրաւել ամէն դժուարութիւն՝ խաղաղութեամբ մեր սրտերուն մէջ եւ քաջութեամբ՝ մեր քայլերուն:”
Երիտասարդ մասնակիցներուն իրենց հոգեւոր պատգամը բերին նաեւ արժանաշնորհ հայրեր Տ. Եփրեմ Քելէկեան, Տ. Անդրէաս Կարապետեան, Տ. Հրաչ Սարգսեան, եւ Տ. Սահակ Քէիշեան, որ կիրակնօրեայ Սուրբ Պատարագը մատոյց: Երիտասարդական կազմակերպութեան Կեդրոնական Խորհուրդին անդամներ վարեցին խմբական զրոյցներ եւ ներկայացուցին ՀԵԵԿ Երէցներուն ծրագրած ձեռնարկութիւնները:
Մասնակիցները վայելեցին բնութեան գեղեցիկ միջավայրը եւ կէս-գիշերային մոմավառութեան թափօրով աղօթեցին շրջապատին անտառուտ կածաններով:
ԱՆոնց միացան նաեւ Թեմին միջին-արեւմտեան ծուխերուն քահանաներ, Տ. Աւետիս Գալայճեան եւ Տ. Յովհան Խոճա–Էյնատեան, Թեմական Առաքելութիւններուն պաշտօնէութենէն՝ Ճենիֆըր Նորրիս եւ Արմէն սարկաւագ Թերճիմանեան. Սբ. Ներսէս Ընծայարանին ժառանգաւորները եւս մասնակից էին այս հաւաքոյթին եւ սպասարկեցին շաբաթավերջի ընթացքին մատուցուած ծիսական արարողութիւններուն:
