In his New Year’s message to the worldwide faithful of the Armenian Church, His Holiness Karekin II welcomed 2025 with optimism, while acknowledging the deep concerns facing the world, and Armenia in particular.
The Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians called on his people to “remain firm in the face of the challenges before us, and not be tempted to settle our present difficulties at the cost of our sacred values and traditional way of life.”
At the same time, he offered a hopeful vision for the future, grounded in the Armenian people’s embrace of the Christian faith. “Be renewed in your mind and spirit,” His Holiness advised, quoting the Apostle Paul (Eph 4:23-24), and went on to assure listeners that, “By heeding this Scriptural exhortation, we can face even the hardest, seemingly impossible situations.”
Above all, the Catholicos emphasized the need for a united spirit among all Armenians, in the homeland and diaspora, which would nourish the pious patriotic consciousness of future generations.
In a touching expression of that concern, Catholicos Karekin II spent the final day of the year meeting with families that had been exiled from Artsakh in 2023, and had been blessed with newborn children in 2024. Welcoming them to the pontifical residence at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness conferred his blessing on the children and their parents (pictured above), and led them in prayer. Later, the Catholicos visited the maternity ward of a hospital in the city of Etchmiadzin to bless the infants and new parents.

My Dear Pious People:
On this New Year’s Eve, we convey our fatherly love and blessing to faithful in the homeland and diaspora.
We welcome 2025 as a redeeming year. In spite of lingering concerns and worries in our lives, we enter the year with optimism and good expectations. The hopeful feelings of the New Year are manifested in our families, our churches, our places of service—in every place where we stand united by warm wishes for one another.
The New Year is an occasion for self-examination, to reflect on issues of concern to our national and domestic life. It is an invitation to renew our minds, to contemplate the future, and to resolve to make life better, safer, more secure.
“Be renewed in your mind and spirit,” the Apostle Paul said, “and put on the New Man created by God in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24). By heeding this Scriptural exhortation, my dear ones, we can face even the hardest, seemingly impossible situations. We can find the strength to overcome adversity through united effort; to turn trial into experience; to transform failure into achievement; and to build a bright, new day. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” the Apostle assures us (Philippians 4:13); and encouraged by this conviction—which has nourished us throughout history—we will unite in a constructive spirit to strengthen our homeland and realize our national aspirations. “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (II Corinthians 4:8-9).
Today, we must remain firm in the face of the challenges before us, and not be tempted to settle our present difficulties at the cost of our sacred values and traditional way of life. Instead, let us be unstinting in our loyalty to our historic identity—which is essential for nourishing the consciousness of new generations, fortifying the credibility of our state and people, and defending our national rights. In this way, I believe, our history will be blessed with a new ascendancy. In our aspirations for a bright future, let us arm ourselves with hope and faith; let us trust in God, and undertake our individual missions for the benefit of our collective well-being. Let us move together towards a renewed reality, where honesty, solidarity, respect for law, and a patriotic spirit prevail; where our priorities include a strong nation, safe and dignified life for our people, and the protection of the inalienable rights of Artsakh and Armenia. Under this vision, let us choose to walk together on the path of love and unity.
My dear faithful people, on this eve of a New Year, let us pray to God for our homeland; for the Armenian armed forces; for the people of Artsakh who have been violently exiled from their homes; for the sick and deprived; for the families who mourn the loss of martyred children, and for those who live with the pain of missing loved ones. Let us also pray for our sisters and brothers across the world who endure the devastating consequences of war. Let us pray for peace for our homeland, our people, and the entire world. May the Lord be the helper and defender of our nation, leading us to a bright, new horizon.

ՈՒՂԵՐՁԸ ԱՄԱՆՈՐԻ ԱՌԻԹՈՎ
Սիրելի բարեպաշտ ժողովուրդ,
Ամանորի խորախորհուրդ այս երեկո Հայրապետական Մեր սերն ու օրհնությունն ենք բերում ամենքիդ իհայրենիս և ի սփյուռս։
Դիմավորում ենք փրկչական 2025 թվականը։ Մեր կյանքում առկա չփարատված մտահոգություններովու հոգսերով հանդերձ՝ Նոր տարի մուտք ենք գործում լավատեսությամբ և բարի սպասումներով։Ամանորի հուսառատ ապրումները ընտանեկան մեր հարկերում են, եկեղեցիներում ու ծառայությանվայրերում, ամենուր, որտեղ համախմբված ենք միմյանց փոխանցելու մեր մաղթանքներն ու ջերմզգացումները։
Ամանորը առիթ է ինքնաքննության, անդրադառնալու ազգային ու հայրենական մեր կյանքը հուզողխնդիրներին։ Ամանորը հրավեր է նորոգության, հրավեր ապագայի շուրջ մտորումների, կյանքն առավելապահով, բարօր ու շեն դարձնելու նախաձեռնությունների։
«Նորոգվեցեք ձեր մտքով և հոգով ու հագեք նոր մարդը, որ ստեղծված է ըստ Աստծու՝ արդարությամբ ևճշմարիտ սրբությամբ» (Եփ. 4.23-24),- պատգամում է առաքյալը։ Սուրբգրային այս հորդորին ունկնդիր՝սիրո, բարության ու արդարության ճանապարհով ընթանալով, կարող կլինենք, սիրելիներ, դիմակայելծանր, անգամ անելանելի թվացող իրավիճակներին։ Կարող կլինենք ուժ գտնել նեղություններըհամատեղ ջանքերով հաղթահարելու, փորձությունները փորձառության վերածելու, ձախողումներն ուպարտությունները ձեռքբերումների վերափոխելու և մեր նոր օրը կառուցելու՝ ապավինածառաքելական խոսքին, թե՝ «ամեն բան կարող եմ ինձ զորացնող Քրիստոսով» (Փիլիպ․ 4․13)։ Այսհաստատ համոզումով ենք պատմության ողջ ընթացքում մեր հարազատ բնօրրանում ապրել, մերպետականությունը կերտել և օրհասական պահերին հանձնառու ոգով համախմբվել հանուն հայրենիքիհզորացման և ազգային տեսիլքների մարմնավորման։ Մաքառել ու տոկացել ենք առ Տերը հույսով ևառաքյալի խոսքի նկատմամբ հավատով, թե՝ նեղություն ունենք, բայց ընկճված չենք, կարոտյալ ենք, բայց հուսահատ չենք, հալածված ենք, բայց լքված չենք, չարչարված ենք, բայց կործանված չենք (հմմտ. Բ Կորնթ. 4.8-9):
Արդ, մեր կյանքում ծառացած դժվարությունների հանդիման հարկ է աննկուն մնալ և առկամարտահրավերների ու պարտադրվող պահանջների հանգուցալուծումը չփնտրել հայրենավնասզիջումների, մեր սրբություններից ու ավանդական արժեքներից հրաժարման միջոցով։ Աներեր մնանքմեր պատմությանն ու արժեհամակարգին հավատարմության մեջ, անխաթար պահպանենք մերինքնությունը, ինչը կարևոր է նոր սերնդի ոգու և գիտակցության կերտման, նաև աշխարհում մերպետության և ժողովրդի հեղինակության ամրապնդման, ազգային իրավունքների պաշտպանությանհամար։ Հավատում ենք, որ մեր պատմությունը զարդարվելու է նոր վերելքով։ Լուսավոր գալիքի մերձգտումներում զինվենք հույսով և հավատով, Աստծուն ապավինած իրագործենք յուրաքանչյուրս մերառաքելությունը՝ ի սեր անձնական ու հավաքական մեր կյանքի բարօրության։ Նորոգված կյանքովկարող պիտի լինենք կերտել նոր իրականություն, որտեղ գերակա կլինեն ուղղամտությունն ուհամերաշխությունը, օրինահարգությունն ու հայրենանվիրումը, նոր իրականություն, որտեղյուրաքանչյուր հանձնառություն միտված կլինի մեր պետության հզորացմանը, ազգի անվտանգ ուարժանապատիվ կյանքի ապահովմանը, արցախահայության անօտարելի իրավունքներիպաշտպանությանը։ Այս տեսլականով վերափոխենք մեր կյանքի ընթացքը և միշտ քայլենք սիրո ևմիաբանության կենարար ճանապարհով։
Սիրելի հավատավոր ժողովուրդ, տարեմուտի սեմին աղոթենք առ Աստված մեր հայրենիքի, հայոցբանակի, հայրենի հողից ու տնից բռնությամբ զրկված արցախցիների, նահատակված զավակներիկորուստը սգացող, գերեվարված և անհայտ կորած սիրելիների ցավով ապրող ընտանիքների, հիվանդների ու զրկանքների մեջ գտնվողների համար։ Աղոթենք նաև աշխարհասփյուռ մեր քույրերի ուեղբայրների համար, ովքեր կրում են պատերազմների կործանարար հետևանքները։ Հայցենքխաղաղություն համայն աշխարհին, մեր հայրենիքին ու ժողովրդին։ Թող Տերը օգնական ու զորակիցլինի ազգիս հայոց՝ շնորհելով լուսառատ նոր հորիզոններ։
