Readers of this newsletter know that on June 30, a new cross for New York’s St. Vartan Cathedral was blessed on the plaza and installed on the cathedral dome. Over subsequent weeks, it was carefully gilded (along with the dome) to shine with renewed brilliance.
On July 23, Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan climbed the scaffolding to anoint the cross with holy muron. During the blessing ceremony on the summit of the cathedral dome, the Primate was assisted by Dn. Adam Bullock.
“As we stood there,” Bishop Mesrop said, “a gentle rain began to fall: a divine blessing, washing over the cross and preparing it for its sacred role.”
“This cross is more than just a symbol,” the Primate continued; “it’s a powerful, eloquent reminder of the radiant love and light of Jesus Christ in our lives.”
He concluded: “Let us continue to renew our cathedral and build our community on the solid foundation of God’s love. May this cross inspire us to reach new heights in our spiritual journey, and be a constant reminder of His presence in our lives, and the blessings He bestows.”
In the coming weeks, as the scaffolding comes down to reveal the cross in all its shining brightness, the Eastern Diocese invites our faithful to come to our mother cathedral—to see the new cross, to pray beneath its radiance, and to renew our spiritual connections to the holy cross of our Lord, and all it represents.

Ճառագայթ եւ Նշան Աստուծոյ Սիրոյն
Մեր լրաբերին ընթերցողները արդէն գիտեն որ յունիս ամսուն 30-ին Սուրբ Վարդան Մայր Տաճարին գմբէթին համար նոր խաչ մը օրհնուեցաւ բացօդեայ գաւիթին մէջ եւ տեղադրուեցաւ գմբէթին վրայ: Յաջորդող շաբաթներուն՝ նոր խաչը, ինչպէս գմբէթը, խնամքով ոսկեզօծուեցան՝ վերանորոգ շողով փայլելու:
Անցեալ շաբաթ, յուլիս 23-ին, Մեսրոպ Սրբազան Պարսամեան, Ադամ Սարկաւագ Պուլոքի առընթերակայութեամբ, բարձրացաւ մետաղամածէն վեր՝ սուրբ միւռոնով օծելու համար նոր խաչը:
“Մինչ այդ,” ըսաւ Մեսրոպ Սրբազան, “մեղմ անձրեւ մը սկսաւ մաղել, աստուածային օրհնութեան նշան, թանալով խաչը եւ պատրաստելով զայն օծման:”
“Այս խաչը,” շարունակեց Առաջնորդ Սրբազան Հայրը, “շատ աւելի ընդարձակ է քան պարզ խորհրդանշան մը. հզօր եւ պերճախօս յուշարարն է Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսի սիրոյն եւ լոյսին՝ մեր կեանքին մէջ:”
Եզրափակելով իր մտածումը՝ ըսաւ. “Շարունակենք վերանորոգել մեր մայր տաճարը եւ կառուցել մեր համայնքը Քրիստոսի սիրոյն ամուր հիմին վրայ: Թող այս խաչը շնչէ մեր հոգեւոր կեանքին մէջ նոր բարձունքներու հասնելու ոյժը, եւ ըլլայ տեւողական յուշարարը Տիրոջ ներկայութեան մեր կեանքին մէջ, ինչպէս եւ Անոր պարգեւած բարիքներուն:”
Եկող շաբաթներուն՝ մետաղամածը պիտի քակուի եւ խաչը պիտի երեւայ իր պայծառ շողով. կը հրաւիրենք մեր հաւատացեալները գալու մեր մայր տաճարը՝ ոչ միայն տեսնելու նոր խաչը, այլ նաեւ աղօթելու անոր շնորհքին ներքեւ եւ վերանորոգելու հոգեւոր հաղորդութիւնը մեր Տիրոջ սուրբ խաչին եւ անոր համապարփակ խորհուրդին հետ:
