A New Diocesan Ministry & Staff Member

The Eastern Diocese is pleased to announce that as of the beginning of April, Yn. Hasmik Ajamian has been appointed to serve as the Eastern Diocese’s new “Children and Family Ministry Specialist,” within the Diocesan Ministries department.

Under the guidance and supervision of our interim director of Diocesan Ministries, Fr. Hratch Sargsyan, and with the support of the newly formed Children and Family Ministry Council, Yn. Hasmik will coordinate the development, direction, and training of parish leaders responsible for children and family ministries at the parish level.

Yn. Hasmik is well-known in our Diocese as an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and organized team player. She is also an avid writer, published author, and blogger, fluent in English, Armenian, and Russian. She has degrees in clinical, developmental, and child psychology, and has been involved in numerous Diocesan and parish programs, including teaching Sunday and Armenian School.

Her responsibilities will include the following:

  • Creating workshops and training educators for children’s and family ministry in the parishes.
  • Training teachers and superintendents through regional and parish visits, workshops, and summer programs, regionally and Diocesan-wide.
  • Creating/revising resources for Christian formation and Sunday Schools.
  • Making available existing resources and training programs to our Sunday School students and staff.
  • Creating special programs encouraging families to be involved in the life of the parish.
  • Maintaining regular contact with, and providing support for, teachers, superintendents, and pastors.
  • Preparing and publishing timely educational and spiritual resources for the various printed and virtual communication platforms.

Yn. Hasmik is very excited about her new role, and looks forward to working with our dedicated teachers, educators, and parish leadership to build up our Sunday School programming and family faith formation.

She will work part-time and remotely from Texas, where she lives and serves alongside her husband Fr. Ghevond Ajamian, pastor of St. Sarkis Church of Dallas. For inquiries and information, please contact Yn. Hasmik at HAjamian@armeniandiocese.org, or by phone at (201) 314-4143, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. EDT.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Yn. Hasmik to the Diocesan staff. May our Lord bless and support her work, and all the outreach efforts of our Diocese.
