His Holiness Karekin II began this year’s solemn April 24 commemoration by visiting the Armenian Genocide Memorial at Dzidzernagapert, to lay wreaths and offer prayers at the eternal flame. Leading a delegation from the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians joined the great throng of fellow Armenians paying their respects on the occasion.
At Holy Etchmiadzin on the same day, Catholicos Karekin II presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Gayane Monastery, marking the Feast of the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
In a message to the public on the occasion, His Holiness lamented that “One hundred and more years ago, one and a-half million Armenians testified their loyalty to our God-given homeland and faith, at the cost of their lives.”
He continued that on this day, Armenians across the world are united in prayer: “We raise a prayer to God, asking for the intercession of the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, so that with unity and an indomitable will we may face every disaster and threat, fight for the victory of Armenian justice, and contribute to the prevention of genocidal acts and crimes in the lives of our people and in the world.”

On the Occasion of the Commemoration of the Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide
Beloved Godly People:
One hundred and more years ago, one and a half million Armenians testified their loyalty to our God-given homeland and faith, at the cost of their lives, rejecting apostasy and assimilation. They kept their faith and hope for the revival of our people alive. The Dzidzernagapert Memorial symbolizes that revival, which became a reality with the re-establishment of independent statehood in a small part of the homeland, as well as with the re-emergence of a new life for Armenians who survived the Genocide in different countries of the world.
Today in Armenia and Artsakh and in the Diaspora, nationally united in churches, in front of our memorials, we raise a prayer to God, asking for the intercession of the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, so that with unity and indomitable will we may face any disasters and threats, fight for the victory of Armenian justice, and contribute to the prevention of genocidal acts and crimes in the lives of our people and in the world.
May the Heavenly Lord grant peace and prosperity to Armenia and Artsakh, and may the heavenly graces and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be distributed to all our people and all mankind today and always. Amen.

Սիրելի բարեպաշտ ժողովուրդ,
Հարյուր և ավելի տարիներ առաջ մեկ և կես միլիոն հայորդիք իրենց կյանքի գնով վկայեցին հավատարմությունը աստվածաշնորհ մեր հայրենիքին ու հավատքին՝ մերժելով ուրացությունն ու ուծացումը։ Նրանք կենդանի պահեցին իրենց հավատն ու հույսը մեր ժողովրդի վերածննդի հանդեպ։ Ծիծեռնակաբերդի հուշահամալիրը խորհրդանշում է այդ վերածնունդը, որն իրականություն դարձավ հայրենիքի մի փոքր հատվածում անկախ պետականության վերակերտումով, ինչպես և աշխարհի տարբեր երկրներում ցեղասպանությունից փրկված հայորդյաց նոր կյանքի վերընձյուղումով։
Այսօր Հայաստանում ու Արցախում և ի սփյուռս աշխարհի, ազգովի համախմբված եկեղեցիներում, հուշակոթողների առջև, աղոթք ենք բարձրացնում առ Աստված՝ խնդրելով Հայոց ցեղասպանության սուրբ նահատակների բարեխոսությունը, որպեսզի միաբան ու աննկուն կամքով կարողանանք դիմագրավել արհավիրքներին ու սպառնալիքներին, պայքարել հայոց արդար դատի հաղթանակի համար և նպաստել մեր ժողովրդի կյանքում ու աշխարհում ցեղասպան եղեռնագործությունների ու ոճիրների կանխմանը։
Թող Երկնավոր Տերը խաղաղություն ու բարօրություն պարգևի Հայաստան ու Արցախ մեր հայրենիքին, և թող հարուցյալ մեր Տիրոջ՝ Հիսուս Քրիստոսի երկնային շնորհները և սերը բաշխվեն համայն մեր ժողովրդին ու ողջ մարդկությանը այսօր և միշտ. ամեն:
