The Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople took an important step towards the election of a new patriarch last week, when it chose Bishop Sahak Mashalian to fill the role of “locum tenens”: the “placeholder” who will administer the Patriarchate until a new Armenian Patriarch is chosen.

The 33rd annual Women’s Guild Assembly brought together 37 delegates—including 12 first-time participants—who represented 20 of the 34 active Women’s Guilds within the Eastern Diocese.
This weekend, in a stirring and solemn ceremony at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, consecrated the Primate of the Eastern Diocese to the episcopal rank.
