On Saturday, May 5, St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York City will launch its 50th anniversary weekend with the grand opening of an exhibit of photos and artifacts: “Image of a Living Church: 50 Years of Faith at St. Vartan Cathedral.” The exhibit will open at 5 p.m. in Y-Room of the Diocesan Center (630 Second Ave., NYC; enter at 35th St.) and run through the weekend. The exhibit opening will be followed by a “Concert of Sacred Music” in the sanctuary, starting at 7 p.m. (see its individual listing for details and ticket contacts). A Pontifical Divine Liturgy on Sunday, May 6 (starting 10:30 a.m.) will be celebrated by His Holiness Karekin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, who will preside over the weekend’s activities.
