Watervliet Parishioners Will “Climb the Hye Hill” to Fundraise for St. Vartan Cathedral

On Sunday, October 25, St. Peter Church in Watervliet, NY, will host a unique fundraiser in support of the St. Vartan Cathedral Renovation Project.

St. Peter Church is uniquely situated atop a hill, making it the ideal setting for this special event. Participants will climb the hill together, and in doing so they will raise funds to support the renovation of St. Vartan Cathedral, the spiritual home and a beacon of hope for Armenians throughout our Diocese.

“Throughout our lives, we encounter many hills to climb, in our homes, our personal lives, our parishes, and our Diocese,” explains parish pastor Fr. Stepanos Doudoukjian. “Our ‘Climb the Hye Hill’ fundraiser at St. Peter Church, will bring together Sunday School and Armenian School students, parishioners, families, and friends for a meaningful cause. People can choose to climb, walk, or donate, to this special event.”

Fr. Doudoukjian went on: “With unwavering faith, love, and encouragement, St. Vartan Cathedral has helped our parishes and parishioners navigate life’s many challenges and continue God’s work. It has stood as an anchor of stability and a beacon of hope for our entire Diocesan community. Every contribution brings us one step closer to preserving this treasured spiritual landmark for future generations.”

Several Diocesan parishes have also undertaken special fundraisers for the St. Vartan Cathedral Renovation Project, and Fr. Doudoukjian hopes the event in Watervliet will inspire other parishes to do the same.

All proceeds will go to the St Vartan Cathedral Renovation. Contributors can click here to support St. Peter Church’s effort. For those who join in the event on October 25, “Climb the Hye Hill” will be followed by Armenian dancing, fellowship, food, and celebration, organized by the parish Women’s Guild.
