To mark Thanksgiving, Diocesan Primate Bishop Daniel issued a special greeting to the faithful of the Eastern Diocese:
In the name of our loving savior, Jesus Christ, I greet you and your family on one of the most meaningful observances of the year: Thanksgiving.
Certainly, our experiences on this Thanksgiving will be different from our celebrations of the past. In this time of ongoing anxiety, hardship, and grief, we pray for all the souls who will not be with us—among our families, in our communities, and in our homeland of Armenia and Artsakh.
Yet the spiritual essence of the day remains the same: to honor God’s presence among us, and offer heartfelt gratitude for the blessings He has bestowed. As children of the Armenian Church, we place our faith in the greatest of these blessings: God’s only begotten Son.
This Thursday, as we remember the precious blessings that fill our lives, let us offer thanks to the One who fills us with His grace. As we sing in the Holy Badarak: “You have filled us with goodness, Lord! Glory to you who have fed us!”
May the blessings of Thanksgiving, and the season of the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you and your loved ones always.
With my prayers,
