A special celebration will take place in the Eastern Diocese this weekend, as Dn. Michael Sabounjian is ordained as a priest of the Armenian Church, by the hand of Bishop Daniel. The Service of Calling (Friday evening, June 4) and the Ordination Service (Saturday morning, June 5) will be broadcast live on the Livestream page of Holy Resurrection Church (New Britain, CT).
Dn. Michael has been the Deacon-in-Charge of Holy Resurrection Church since February. A native of the Holy Translators parish (Framingham, MA), he is a graduate of St. Nersess Seminary, who served a pastoral internship at the Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Church (Providence, RI) before his assignment to New Britain. He and his wife Lucine, who met while both were attending St. Vartan Camp, have been married since 2019. His parents are Fr. Krikor and Yn. LuAnn Sabounjian.
Dn. Michael will be the fifth priest ordained by the hand of Bishop Daniel. During this weekend’s ceremonies, Fr. Krikor Sabounjian will serve as Dn. Michael’s sponsoring priest, and Stepan Piligian as his ordination godfather.
