Holy Easter 2020
To His Grace Bishop Daniel Findikyan
Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of America
New York, U.S.A.
On the occasion of the glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ we convey from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin our pontifical blessing and congratulations to the esteemed members of the Diocesan and Parish Councils of your divinely-protected Diocese, the reverend clergy, and our faithful and devout people.
Today we once again hear the angelic tidings, “Christ is risen from the dead!” and in the words of the joyful sharagan we praise the risen Son of God saying, “Glory to your wondrous resurrection, O Lord!”
During these days of crisis throughout the world, when as a result of the Coronavirus humanity is deeply troubled, the good news of Christ’s resurrection brings a particular strength and comfort, and Christians with heartfelt anticipation and longing focus their gaze upon their risen Lord. All of us are placing our trust in the Lord, who triumphed over death, all the more as we face seemingly unconquerable diseases, calamities and affliction.
The Holy Resurrection is the solid rock of the Christian faith and the firm anchor of the Church. Just as he granted health and resurrection to those who believe in him, the Lord will likewise with his abundant mercy provide strength and fortify all of humanity and the Armenian people in order to overcome the trials and crises.
Dear Srpazan, our exhortation to you during these difficult times is that with your divinely-mandated service, and together with your loyal clergy, you may strengthen our faithful people in faith, hope, and love; that you provide encouragement and comfort in the face of the current trials; and care for and minister to the sick, to those in need, and especially to the elderly, who are particularly vulnerable to the worldwide pandemic.
Our paternal exhortation to our faithful people is that you remain strong in the light of faith; that you look to God for protection; that you strengthen and increase prayer in your daily life; and that, in the present complicated conditions, you live and work with caution, always finding refuge in our risen Savior Jesus Christ, and showing love and care for one another.
We pray that with the grace of the Lord our Savior, your laudable mission—shared by your Diocesan clergy, and your Diocesan and Parish Council members—will be all the more fruitful for the splendor of your divinely-protected Diocese and our Apostolic Holy Church.
Our prayer from the depth of our heart is that the risen Lord will keep firm our homeland of Armenia and Artsakh; that he will fortify peace at the borders of our land; and that he will strengthen our devout people in hope and faith, to overcome with united effort the challenges before us, and build a bright future for the Armenian people.
“And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith.” (I John 5:4)
CHRIST IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD!
BLESSED IS THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST!
With a greeting of love and blessings,
Catholicos of All Armenians
