The 118th Diocesan Assembly will convene April 28-May 3, 2020, at the Marriott Hotel in Plano, TX. The St. Sarkis Church of Carrollton, TX, will host the Diocesan Assembly, the concurrent Women’s Guild Assembly, and the Clergy Conference (meeting April 28-30), bringing together hundreds of Armenian Church leaders from the Eastern Diocese. Diocesan Primate Bishop Daniel will preside.
The Dallas-area church is thrilled to be hosting the gathering for the first time in its history. “The entire St. Sarkis parish is looking forward to welcoming our brothers and sisters from around the Diocese to our home,” said pastor Fr. Ghevond Ajamian. “Co-chairs Sylva Dayian and Daron Bolat are working with all our members to make this Clergy Conference and Diocesan Assembly memorable for all.”
The gathering will include events with a distinctive “Texa-Hye” theme, including a Texas-style dinner at St. Sarkis. The annual awards banquet will take place on Saturday, May 2, with delegates and clergy encouraged to attend badarak on Sunday, May 3. An innovation this year will be a community service project during the week, allowing attendees to give back to the community.
The hotel for the Clergy Conference and Diocesan Assembly, the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy, is within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The parish has opened online hotel reservations, with assembly registration to open soon, all of which can be accessed via the St. Sarkis website. Information is also being updated frequently on the parish’s 118th Diocesan Assembly Facebook page.
