Dear pious people, in our homeland, in Artsakh, and in the diaspora:
On this New Year’s Eve, we send you our blessings and congratulations from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, with fatherly love.
The New Year is a unique demarcation of time between old and new, past and future. It is an opportunity to evaluate the past: the good that was accomplished as well as the mistakes that were made. Such a sincere, honest assessment determines our vision and expectation as we enter 2020.
The past year of 2019 was a period of reorganizing state life, establishing new programs and new realizations. In our patriotic, national, and spiritual realms, we have had success. Still, alongside the positive developments, there are urgent problems to solve, new challenges requiring the joint effort and labor of all our people. To make our vision of a strong homeland with a bright future come true, we all share a spirit of responsibility, devotion, and common values.
The New Year is a new beginning: a chance to heal our lives and reaffirm our direction on the path of progress. Each of us is responsible for every single day we live. We are accountable to God, to our history, to our ancestors, and to future generations. Dear ones, it is our Father’s exhortation to do our utmost to strengthen Armenia and Artsakh; to dispel the disturbing phenomena of our lives; to strengthen a spirit of solidarity in our society, and unity in our national life. With love for one another and zeal for the common good, let us make 2020 a year of enlightenment in our homeland and national life. And in all matters, let us always rely on God, as the psalmist says: “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon him in truth” (Psalm 144:18).
On this New Year’s Eve, we extend our warmest wishes to all of you—officials, businessmen, intellectuals, artists, land cultivators, and workers—whose efforts, faith, dedication, will, and determination, contribute to building the unbreakable progress of our homeland and people. My love and appreciation goes to every brave soldier in the Armenian Army. We send our prayer and blessing to all those who are serving during this New Year, and especially to those far from their family homes at this time. Let us pray together for the children of our people who are facing affliction in the Middle East, as well as for all those in distress, whether weak in spirit or in body.
Let us raise our prayer for peace in the world, beseeching the Lord God to preserve our Motherland, our people throughout the world, and the efforts of our authorities in Armenia and Artsakh on the path of independent statehood.
May the love and abundant graces of our Lord and Savior be with you always, overseeing your life and your families.
Happy New Year.
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
