Creative Workshops Featured at 33rd Women’s Guild Assembly

The 33rd annual Women’s Guild Assembly brought together 37 delegates—including 12 first-time participants—who represented 20 of the 34 active Women’s Guilds within the Eastern Diocese. The event convened May 2-4, 2019, at the Boston Marriott Burlington Hotel, hosted by the St. James Armenian Church of Watertown, MA.

Diocesan Primate the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan presided over the gathering (which met concurrently with the 117th Diocesan Assembly) and its social gatherings, and addressed the delegates during their business sessions.

Assembly proceedings were organized by the Diocese’s Women’s Guild Central Council (WGCC). Official business was conducted during the first assembly session on Thursday, May 2, during which deliberations took place for all committee reports, budgets, proposals, and amendments, as well as for nominations and elections to the WGCC and the Nominating, Proposals, and Auditing committees.

The session of Friday, May 2 was devoted to interactive workshops and speakers. Among the engaging presenters were Lucy Vozzy and Rhonda Boyadjian (St. Peter Church, Watervliet, NY), Yn. Hasmig Ajemian (St. Sarkis Church, Carrollton, TX), and Yn. Natasha Aljalian (St. James Church, Watertown, MA), who spoken on a diverse range of topics—from adult Christian education to creative publishing and social projects—and graciously interacted with the delegates afterwards.

The 9th annual “Women of Wonder” award luncheon rounded out the weekend on Saturday, May 3, with 130 guests attending, including numerous clergy from throughout the Eastern Diocese. Charlotte Sevazlian and Nancy Kassabian co-chaired the luncheon, which culminated in the raffle of an Armenian carpet generously donated by Oscar Tatosian. The “Women of Wonder” honorees, all hailing from the St. James host parish, were Nancy Kassabian, Ruth Harutunian, and Hripsime Parsekian. Gifts and certificates were presented to all honorees on behalf of the WGCC.

This year’s Women’s Guild Assembly officers were Charlotte Sevazlian (St. Peter, Watervliet, NY) as chair, Hasmig Minassian (St. Sarkis, Carrollton, TX) as vice chair, Adrienne Damian (Holy Resurrection, New Britain, CT) as secretary, and Yn. Patricia Buttero (Holy Resurrection, New Britain, CT) and Meline Grigorian (St. Mesrob, Racine WI) as parliamentarians.
