As arrangements go forward for the episcopal ordination of the Diocesan Primate, the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan, the Eastern Diocese is announcing a “pilgrimage” to Armenia for those who wish to witness the consecration in person.
His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will consecrate Fr. Findikyan as a bishop of the Armenian Church on the weekend of May 11-12, 2019. The solemn ceremony will take place at Holy Etchmiadzin.
The Eastern Diocese is offering two travel packages to Armenia for the occasion. Both packages arrange for members of the group to take part in the Evening Service on Saturday, May 11; the Divine Liturgy and Ordination on Sunday, May 12; the antranig badarak (inaugural Divine Liturgy) of the newly-ordained Bishop Daniel on Monday, May 13; and a special banquet for American-Armenian pilgrims, in honor of the Primate, on Monday evening.
Back in America on May 18
After his episcopal ordination, the Primate will return to the U.S. to celebrate his first Divine Liturgy as bishop among the faithful of the Eastern Diocese on Saturday, May 18.
The May 18 Divine Liturgy at St. Vartan Cathedral (630 Second Avenue, corner 34th Street, New York City) will begin at 10 a.m. and be followed by a reception in the Diocesan Center’s Haik and Alice Kavookjian Auditorium.
The entire public is invited to join dignitaries from our sister churches and people from across the Diocese for this joyous occasion, marking the first time our new Bishop Daniel will officially greet the faithful of the Eastern Diocese.
