Fr. Mesrop Parsamyan Appointed as New Vicar of Cathedral

Diocesan Primate the Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan announced last week that he has appointed the Very Rev. Fr. Mesrop Parsamyan as the new Vicar of St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral.

For more than a year Fr. Parsamyan has led the Diocesan staff as Director of Ministries, in which capacity he has become familiar among our clergy and local parishes. He is a seasoned pastor in our Diocese and internationally, with a record of building communities.

In his role at the cathedral, Fr. Parsamyan will succeed Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian, who had a long, distinguished service as Cathedral Dean, and for whose service we are deeply grateful. (Please note that Fr. Parsamyan’s role is distinct from that of Fr. Simeon Odabashian, who will continue his service as Vicar of the Eastern Diocese.)

Fr. Parsamyan will celebrate his first badarak as cathedral vicar this weekend, on Sunday, October 7, at 10 a.m. in the St. Vartan Cathedral sanctuary (630 Second Ave., New York City).

“We are very excited about the capabilities and enthusiasm Fr. Parsamyan brings to his new role as Vicar of St. Vartan Cathedral,” wrote the Primate in a directive to Diocesan leaders. “We encourage our people in the area to be a part of that occasion. In the meantime, we pray that our Lord will continue to guide him, our Diocese, and our people, as we strive to fulfill the mission of the Armenian Church in America.”
