The Khrimian Lyceum graduation was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Diocesan Center in New York. The event, sponsored by the Diocese’s Armenian Studies department, celebrated the ongoing mission of the prestigious “immersion program” in Armenian heritage and culture.This year’s graduating class included Armen Aslanian, Aren Cizmeciyan, Tigran Kochian, William Mouradian. and Robert Naldjian.
The Director of Diocesan Ministries, Very Rev. Fr. Mesrop Parsamian, led the Azkatroshm graduation ceremony, which began with a rendition of Oorakh Ler by Maro Partamian, with Florence Avakian on the organ. Fr. Parsamian spoke about the significance of Armenian education, and underscored the Armenian word for challenge: mardahraver.
Diocesan Armenian Studies director Gilda Kupelian thanked the attendees and reminded the graduates that the Armenian Church community would always be there for them. Also taking part in the program were Garnik Nanagoulian of the Fund for Armenian Relief, soprano Solange Merdinian, choreographer Nayra Mkrtchyan, writer and editor Taleen Babayan, and students of the Shushi Dance Ensemble.
This year’s Khrimian Lyceum faculty included Gilda Buchakjian Kupelian, Sirvart Arakelian, Taleen Babayan, Jilda Demirci, Vartan Garniki, Ani Essayan, Berch Manukian, Solange Merdinian, Nayra Mkrtichyan, Anahid Oganesyan, Maro Partamian, and Lucia Vorperian.
